A COOKERY COURSE NEAR UMBERTIDE
is rich with unspoilt valleys,
safe paths through centuries-old olive groves and fine vineyards: a
varied land with wide plains, rolling hills, mountains and intensely
blue lakes. Visiting this region is like time-travelling! Villages like

But exploring Umbria is also a culinary tour, involving gourmet meals with special dishes and produce typical to the local area: olive oil drizzled on toasted wood-baked bread, cheese boards including the local sheeps' milk cheese, platters of cold meats from Norcia, pasta wafting with the aroma of truffles, freshly baked pizza and bread... and all of this matched perfectly with glasses of excellent red and white wine, such as the Sagrantino di Montefalco and Grechetto di Assisi which are famous all over the world for their quality.
The Umbrian Cookery is rich, healthy, tasteful and genuine. Aren't you curious which dishes are served on the table of the Umbrian families.
Your overnight stay and cooking classes (min. 2 participants) are in a holiday farm near Umbertide, where Umbria meets Tuscany in a hilly, green landscape. The holiday farm dates back till the 18th century. It has been converted to eight spacious and well designed apartments with stone floors and antique furniture.
During the cookery course the cook Mariolina will learn you how to make handmade pasta, gnocchi, torta al testo, pizza, tigelle and a cake. Of course you will have also enough time to visit interesting small medieval towns in the surroundings like Città di Castello with the two Albert Burri museums and Gubbio.
