Festeggiamenti medievali, che celebrano S.Benedetto, Patrono di Norcia e di Europa. Per l'occasione un corteo sfila in abiti medievali introdotto dalla figura di S.Benedetto. Dopo il corteo segue un torneo di balestra antica fra le sei 'Guaite' della città.

* Benedictine Celebrations

Medieval spring celebration in honour of St. Benedict, patron saint of Norcia and Europe. For the occasion there's a procession through the town of people in medieval costume. Then follows a competition with an antique crossbow tournament between the six 'Guaite' of the town.

* National Antiques and Collecting Fair

Questa festa celebra l'arrivo del primavera. La sera del sabato, le cinque contrade cittadine sfilano in un corteo storico ispirato all'epoca e alla figura Ascanio Della Corgna, duca di Castiglione del Lago dal 1550. La domenica la festa termina con la sfilata dei carri allegorici addobbati con tulepani.

* Celebration of the Tulips (XVI century)

During these days the arrival of Spring is celebrated. On Saturday evening the five town districts parrade in a historic procession commemorating the time and person of Asciano Della Corgna, duke of Castiglione del Lago from 1550. The festival ends on Sunday afternoon with a parade of allegorical floats  adorned exclusively with tulips.

Le prime notizie di questa corsa risalgono al XIII secolo. Le manifestazioni in questi giorni  sono i seguenti: cortei storici in costume che attraversano le vie della città, addobbate con bandiere ed illuminate da torce, serie di mostre, spettacoli, concerti e la gara dove i giovani degli antichi Terzieri cercano di infilare con una lancia un anello teso con corde fra due case poste all'inizio della via Maggiore.

* Ring Tournament

The origins of this celebrations dates from the 13th century. During the festivities there are historic processions in costume along the streets decorated with torches and flags, exhibitions, music,  performances and a ring tournament between the young of the three old factions.

La città di Assisi fa rivivere la vita ed i costumi medievali con spettacoli teatrali, canti, danze ed esibizioni di arcieri, balestrieri e sbandieratori. In questi giorni la città è divisa nelle due antiche fazioni medievali di Parte di Sopra e Parte di Sotto.

* Calendimaggio

In those days Assisi is divided into the two medieval factions Parte di Sopra and Parte di Sotto. These two groups challenge each other to a courtly duel composed of music and dance, reconstruction of the medieval life and ancient popular games.

Festa in onore di S.Rita con una straordinaria fiaccolata,la processione da Roccaporena e il corteo storico lungo le vie di Cascia. La finale è con musica, spettacoli, fuochi di artificio e la antiche esibizioni degli sbandieratori.

*St.Rita Celebrations

Celebrations with an extraordinary torchlight procession, a procession from Roccaporena and a historic procession along the streets of Cascia, to honour  St. Rita. The two-day celebration culminates with the grand finale: music, art exhibits,fireworks and the age-old displays of the flag-wavers. 

Ogni anno il 15 maggio - vigilia della morte (1160) del Patrono S.Ubaldo- si celebra la festa dei ceri. Sono tre colossali macchine di legno savrapposti ed attraversati da un'asse, confitti e incavigliati al centro di una tavola, che si posano sulle spalle dei ceraioli. In cima, ogni statua porta una piccola statua: S.Ubaldo per il cero dei muratori, S.Giorgio per il cero di artigiani e commercianti e S.Antonio Abate per il cero dei contadini.

* The Ceri Marathon

Every year on the 15th of May -the eve of the anniversary of the patron saint Ubaldo's death (1160)- the festival of the Ceri is celebrated. The ceri are three colossal wooden devices composed of two elongated prisms tapered at both ends and placed on top of the other by means of an exes and bolted to a thick wooden bearer board. This is then attached to  two crossbars, which rest on the shoulders of the ceraioli. Each cero is topped by a small statue of Saint Ubaldo representing the stone-masons; St George representing the craftsmen and merchants; St. Anthony the farmworkers.

Festa che rievoca antiche usanze e atmosfere con prove di abilità, costumi d'epoca, un corteo storico e una fiaccolata. Il palio è una gara di tiro a segno con la balestra medievale.

* The crossbow Competition

An event to commemorate ancient customs with tests of prowess, period customs, a torchlight procession and a historic procession. The palio is an archery competition using a medieval stationary crossbow.

Festa religiosa che risale al Quattrocento. Protagonista è una colomba che nel giorno del pentecoste rappresenta simbolicamente la discesa del Spirito Santo. Al termine della cerimonia la colomba viene liberata e regalata alla prima coppia di sposi della giornata.

* The dove Festival

The festival dates from the XV century. The festival revolves around the dove that, on With-Sunday, symbolically represents the descent of the Holy Spirit. At the end of the ceremony, the dove is let go and given to the first newly wed  couple of the day.

San Vittore e il patrono degli esuli e della città Otricoli. Nel giorno della festa patronale si ricorda l'approdo di Vittore sulle rive del Tevere che per l'occasione vengono illuminate con fiaccole e fuochi di artificio. La festa si conclude con la rappresentazione del martirio del Santo presso l'antico teatro romano.

*Sbarco di St Victor (Roman period)

St. Victor is the patron saint of exiles and of the town of Otricoli. On the feast day of the Patron Saint the mooring of Victor's boat on the banks of the Tiber is remembered, a scene lit up for the occasion with torches and fireworks. The celebrations conclude with a representation of the martyrdom at the ancient Roman Theatre.

Rievocazione della vita quotidiana della città in medioevo. Dieci giorni di festeggiamenti in cui le quattre gaite -S.Giorgio, S.Giovanni, S.Maria e S.Pietro- si sfidano in diverse gare dei mestieri, gastronomica, di tiro con l'arco e del Mercato.

* The Mercato delle Gaite (13e and 14e century)

A most faithful  representation of everyday life in a medieval town. Then days of celebration in which the four 'gaite' (St.George, St.John, St.Mary and St.Peter) vie with each other in the variuos contests -craft, gastronomy, archery and trade.

Le strade e stradine del centro storico di Spello sono ricoperte da quadri floreali reproducenti figurazioni e motivi ornamentali liturgici. Le composizioni vengono preparate per settimane ma, è solo durante la sera e la notte precedente la festa, che vengono preparati i mosaici con fiori ed erbe profumatissime.

* Whitsuntide and Corpus Domini

The most famous 'infiorta' is that of Spello. Flower carpets are laid down along the streets transforming the medieval town centre into a great mosaic of multi-coloured petals. The preparations go on for weeks, but the mosaics made of flower petals and herbs are made the evening and night before the celebration of Corpus Domini.

International Festival of Jazz

Nel 1522 assediarono Scheggino. In quell'occasione fu compito delle donne e fanciulli difendere il castello in assenza degli uomini impegnati nella mietitura. Questo evento viene oggi riproposta con personaggi in costume d'epoca nei luoghi del borgo compresi tra la cerchia muraria, la torre del vendetta e la fortificazione.

* Defending the Castle (23 luglio)

In 1522 Scheggino is besieged. On that occasion it was the task of the women and children to defend the Castle in absence of the man, all busy with the harvest. This event is now recreated with characters in period costume in those parts of the town within the town walls, the watch tower and the fortification.

Il Palio dei Terzieri raggiunge il suo apice con lo svolgersi della gara del tiro con l'arco. Per l'occasione vengono ricostruite botteghe del '300 mentre saltimbanchi, giocolieri e mangiatori di fuoco animano le vie della città.

*Palio dei Terzieri 

The most important event during the Palio dei Terzieri is the archery competition. During this week is reconstructed the medieval life  and tumblers, jugglers and fire-eaters are liven up the streets of the town.

La rievocazione ricorda l'ultimo ritorno di San Francesco ad Assisi. Era il settembre 1226 quando Francesco, gravemente malato e in cura a Bagnara vicino a Nocera fu riportato ad Assisi da un gruppo di cavalieri. Questo episodio viene rievocato da un gruppo cavalieri in abiti medievali che ripercorrono lo storico itinerario tra Nocera ed Assisi.

 * Ride of Satriano

This event marks the final return of San Francesco to Assisi. In September 1226 Francesco gravely ill and under treatment in Bagnara near Nocera, was brought back to Assisi by a group of horse men. This episode is commemorated by a group of Riders in medieval clothes retracing the historic route from Nocera to Assisi.

Periodo: la seconda domenica di Giugno (la Sfida) e la terza domenica di Settembre (la Rivincità). La prima testimonianza documentata dello svolgimanto della Quintana risale al 1448. Nel 1613 i Priori inserirono la 'Quintana' nell'ambito dei festeggiamenti. I cavalieri giastranti sono dieci, rappresentanti di altrettanti quartieri della città. Lanciati al galoppo su un destriero, debbono infilare con una lancia una serie di anelli, che via via diventano più piccoli. La sera prima della gara c'è una sfilata del corteo storico con costumi rinascimentali.

* Giostra della Quintana

Period: the second Sunday of June (la Sfida / the challenge) and the third Sunday of September (la Rivincità / return match).

Races for the ring are documented in Foligno from 1448. Ten riders representing the ten quarters of the town have a competition  with each other at the 'Campo de li Giochi'. On the field  a wooden statue is placed with a warrior's head holding in its hand of progressively diminishing size, which the riders run their metal lances through at gallop. The night before a Corteo Storico (historical procession) is held with participants in 16th century costume.

La mostra mercato si svolge  l'ultimo weekend di ottobre nel periodo immediatamente successivo alla fioritura della pianta. Questo evento ha lo scopo di far conoscere questa spezia presente nel territorio sin dal periodo medievale.

* Fair and Exhibition of Saffron

This fair and exhibition is held in the last weekend of October. This periodis immediately after the flowering-time of the plant. The event in Cascia is meant to know this spice already present in this territory since medieval times.

Questi festeggiamenti medievali si svolgono sulla 1° domenica di Ottobre. Il palio dell'oca consiste nell'infilare, stando in equilibrio sopra un carretto in corsa, un lungo palo nel foro del mastello dell'oca ricolmo di acqua e posto ad un'altezza di due metri da terra. La gara è preceduta da un corteo storico.

*Palio of the Goose

These celebrations are on the 1st Sunday of the month of October. The contest (Palio) consists of running a lance through a hole in a goose's tub, which is full of water and placed at a height of two metres above the ground, and doing so whilst balanced on a cart racing at full speed. The contest is preceded by a historical procession.
