The International Truffle’s School

Visit, Tasting and Lessons

Since the antiquity Umbria is well-known and praised for its excellent quality black and white truffle, found on several places and to which many superb dishes of the Umbrian cookery are dedicated.

 The International Truffle’s School couldn’t be situated in a better place then the Valnerina, first-rated on the field of the black truffle, il nero di Norcia, and to be exact in the village of Scheggino, where we find one of the most important international truffle producers, Urbani Tartufi.

 The Truffle’s School has at disposal a classroom for theory lessons, a field where truffles are cultivated (tartufaia), more then 20 ha private-forest suitable for truffle hunting and qualified staff, experts of the truffle culture and training of dogs for truffle hunting.

The theory lessons are held in collaboration with lecturers of the University of Perugia and truffle-experts. At the International Truffle’s School are held the following lessons:

• theory lessons in a classroom, in which everything is told about the truffle-culture and truffle hunting.

• dynamic theory lessons in the truffle field (tartufaia)

• truffle hunting in cultivated truffle field or in the woods.

• training of dogs for truffle hunting.  

• cookery courses dedicated at truffle’s dishes.

 Course programme of the International Truffle's School

• Winter programme: Truffle Sundays (every Sunday - only with booking- from 13/12 till 14/03) Practice on the truffle field to search the precious truffle and tasting the truffle during a lunch with truffle dishes cooked by the best Chefs of this area. The price per person is between 25,00 and 50,00 € The price depends of which kind of lunch you would like to taste. Programme: 11.30 meeting and short explanation / 12.00 visit of the truffle field with dogs and truffle hunter / 13.30 Lunch with truffle dishes.

• Basic course (2/3 hours) a short theory lesson with a lecturer of the University of Perugia; practice on the truffle field and a truffle tasting. Price: 2-6 persons 50,00 € - 7-11 persons 30,00€ - from 12 till 50 participants 350,00 € per group; children 30% discount

• Basic course (2/3 hours) combined with a cookery course (2/3 hours); a short theory lesson with a lecturer of the University of Perugia; practice on the truffle field: cookery course dedicated to the preparation of truffle dishes. Every participant will have his/her own workstation and will be taught by a professional chef. Price from vanaf 85,00 € per person (min. 2 participants)

• Advanced course: 6 hours theory lessons with a lecturer of the University of Perugia; practice on the truffle field and demonstration with a dog. Price and dates on request.

• Advanced Course: 30 hours theory lessons with a lecturer of the University of Perugia; practices on the truffle field. Price and date on request

• Truffle safari: a truffle hunting tour in the woods with dogs. Transportation: a Jeep  50,00 € per person; minimum 2-maximum 10 participants.

• Basic course truffle hunting dog training: 1 hour theory and 2 hours practice. From 150,00 € per dog

• Lunch or Diner based on truffle: from 25,00 € per person
