Umbria has a very
good climate for viticulture. So you can imagine that in the sunny hills of this
fertile region excellent wines are produced. There are no less then 11 d.o.c. (Denominazione d' Origine
Controllata) and 2 d.o.c.g. (Denominazione d'Origine
Controllata e Garantita) areas. During this wine tour you will have plenty of opportunity to taste these surprising Umbrian wines.

golden bunch of grapes). The hotel is situated in the little historical centre
of Torgiano. The rooms with air conditioning, fridge and private bathroom
and are stylishly furnished. From the pool in the garden you have a nice view
over the Lungarotti vineyards. Tonight you will dine in a restaurant close

Day 2

Torgiano and Assisi
This morning you have time to visit
the wine museum in the 17th century palazzo Baglioni-Graziani. The museum is
opened in 1974 by the wine-producers family Lungarotti. The museum examines
different aspects of vine cultivation and winemaking. Also on exhibit is the private collection of Maria Grazia
Lungarotti, which includes ceramics,
wine jugs, etchings. Around
12.00 o'clock you will be expected in the Osteria of the Lungarotti family (next to
the museum) to taste three
of their wonderful wines.
This afternoon there's time
to visit Assisi. This lovely town with its fountains, little alleys,
characteristic squares and scenic
views will make an unforgettable impression.
Don't miss the basilica of St. Francis with the frescoes by Giotto, Cimabue,
Pietro Lorenzetti and Simone Martini. Vineyards in the hills around Assisi
produce interesting red and white wines: Assisi D.o.c. At 5.00 o'clock you will be expected in
the wine cellars of a local wine producer. Here you will taste his Assisi D.o.c.
and also a remarkable Grechetto D.o.c.

Day 3

Montefalco and Lake Trasimeno
Today you will leave your hotel in Torgiano and will go to another
beautiful part of Umbria, Lake Trasimeno, but first you will visit
an olive oil mill in Vescia. The olive groves in the hills
between Trevi and Foligno produce a
deep green,
fragrant olive oil. All will be explained about olive oil and
you will also taste it on a 'bruschetta'. After this it's on to Montefalco.
This town cannot be visited without tasting
the wines of Arnoldo Caprai. Unfortunately
his wine cellars can only be visited in a group, but we can offer you two of his wines,
Rosso di Montefalco D.o.c. and Sagrantino D.o.c.g. in a wine bar in the
centre. The wines will be served with some Umbrian tasters. In the
afternoon you will visit another wine producer in this area. .
At the lake you
will stay in a Villa. This B&B is situated
in Magione opposite of the castle of the Knights of Malta. There's a swimming
pool, gym, bar and lounge.

Day 4

D.o.c. wine area around the lake. In the hills there are about 350 hectares of vineyard
with grapes such as Sangiovese, Merlot, Garmay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grechetto and
Chardonnay. Around 12.00 you will visit the wine cellars of Poggio Totone and of
course taste their wines. In the afternoon you can just enjoy the surroundings.
Lake Trasimeno is famous for
