Hiking through the vineyards of Montefalco and wine-tasting

This walking tour with wine tasting is a perfect combination of nature, culture and flavour, showcasing Umbria at its very best. Designed as an educational and immersive experience, the tour focuses on learning and awareness rather than just walking.

The walk is suitable for everyone, including families with children aged 6 and over. You will be accompanied by an expert environmental guide who will introduce you to the history of the area and to the grape that made Montefalco famous worldwide: Sagrantino.

During the walk, you will learn to recognise local grape varieties, understand vineyard pruning techniques, and discover the main seasonal activities carried out in the vineyard throughout the year. Along the way, you will enjoy peaceful landscapes, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and the ever-changing colours of the Umbrian countryside.

The walking tour takes place in the surroundings of a family-run winery near Montefalco, Umbria, in an exceptional area long dedicated to viticulture. The winery produces the main Montefalco DOC and DOCG wines, using modern sustainable farming techniques while respecting local traditions.

After the walk, you will return to the winery where you will enjoy a guided tasting of Montefalco’s signature wines, including Sagrantino. A memorable experience for wine lovers and families alike, combining authentic flavours, nature, and local knowledge.

Afterward, you could visit Montefalco, which has a nice medieval center. Worthwhile to visit is the museum in the San Francesco church

Program in short

• Individual arrival at a winery with the possibility to park your car (free of charge).  
• Meet at the winery at 9.00-9.30 a.m. with your tour guide (or, upon request, in the afternoon but only for the basic tasting).  
• Departure for your hiking tour surrounded by the countryside. Your guide will escort you, explaining the characteristics of the territory and of the area you will walk through.
• At the end of the walking tour of about 6 km (3.73 miles), return to the winery.  
• You will taste the different types of Montefalco DOC and DOCG wines 
• Tasting of traditional bruschetta with Extra Virgin Olive oil, cheeses / cold cuts.
